The Brief

IDENTITY FOR AN EVENT THAT CONNECTS

MARTK'D approached me in 2023 to create marketing assets for the upcoming Art on Sneaker Invitational that would take place at Scarborough City Centre (STC) in Toronto. We quickly realized that with several successful past events in Cleveland, Detroit, New York and Toronto, there was an opportunity to create an identity for this event series that had built itself a bit of a following.

The Identity System

A CORNERSTONE FOR FUTURE EVENTS

We developed an identity system for the Art on Sneaker Invitational brand with design elements that could be repurposed to establish a consistent visual language throughout all future events of the same name.

AOS-Hero

THE LOGO—Inspired by the paints used to create art on sneakers.

COLOR PALETTE

With the Art on Sneaker Invitational being an extension of the MARTK'D brand, it made sense to include the MARTK'D brand colors in the palette. To create contrast, we also brought in a taupe that would serve as a background color.

TYPOGRAPHY

As each event required a large suite of promotional assets to be developed in a variety of mediums and sizes, we opted for fonts that felt distinct, yet were flexible and legible at different sizes.

CALLING ON A REEBOK ICON

With Reebok Canada generously supporting the event by providing the Club C as canvases for participants, it made sense to use of the iconic silhouette as iconography throughout all creative communications.

The Result

AN EVENT TO REMEMBER

The in-person drew large crowds and brought together creatives from all over the GTA. The event also ended up being featured on Reebok Canada's official Instagram account.
